Ciabatta is a popular Italian white bread, made from a combination of wheat flour, yeast, water, salt and olive oil. As far as bread goes, Ciabatta is a relatively new invention, created in 1982 by a baker in Adria, Italy, as a response to the increasing popularity of French Baguettes. Ciabatta is commonly elongated, but broader and flatter than French Baguettes.
Panini and Ciabatta
In Italy, a Panino is a grilled sandwich that is made from any bread other than standard sliced bread.
One of the most popular bread types used for a Panino is Ciabatta. Outside of Italy, toasted Ciabatta sandwiches are known as Panini (the plural of Panino). To make Panini, the Ciabatta is sliced horizontally and filled with popular sandwich ingredients such as ham, cheese, salami and salad vegetables and then pressed by a sandwich grill and served warm. Over recent decades, beginning with the USA, Panini have grown to be extremely popular throughout the world.
All of our Ciabatta/Panini breads can be frozen to ensure they are fresh ready for when you wish to use them or delivered fresh to suit your needs.
